Another first...

Owen went to his first sleepover on Saturday. It was a success (mostly). It was a super crazy Saturday. First the soccer tournament which Owen declared was the time of his life. Then, his first sleepover. It was a little boy from his soccer team's 9th birthday party. It was a family that we know pretty well (Eddie knows them better then I do because he plays soccer w/ the dad), and it was a small gathering. I felt (mostly) comfortable w/ it and for the first time, Owen really wanted to go. Eddie took him over and ended up staying until 1230 AM. I called him around 10 just to check if he was playing on spending the night, too :). A few of the soccer dads hung out around the bonfire and I'm suspecting that it might have been pre-planned since Eddie really wanted to take him and turns out that all the other boys were brought over by their dads. Hmmm....Anyway, it was a success. Owen had a great time and after initially having a bit of trouble falling asleep knowing that he wasn't in the room next to ours...I was OK, too.
The downside? WOW! He was an absolute grouch the whole next day. I didn't pick him up until noon and the mom said that they finally fell asleep around 1230 and were up around 7. And, everyone in a 50 feet radius could tell. Not quite sure it was worth the miserable boy that was returned to us......

Super fun! I'm surprised how well he did considering his sleeping issues! Awesome!

Ironically, Diego had his first sleepover this weekend, too! It was a 9 year old b-day party also (a friend from basketball and baseball- we know the family very well). D was VERY tired the following day as well!
