Owen's audition

Owen went on his first audition today. It was spur of the moment. We got a phone call from the director of the Syracuse Children's Theatre where he does his musicals and she said that they were looking for 6-12 year old kids for a commerical for a local water park. So, we went! Turns out they were looking for a "family". So they were choosing one boy, one girl, one mom, and one dad (needless to say, I didn't audition!). And while Owen didn't get the part, he did make it down to the last four boys!! They started out w/ about 25ish boys and weeded them down to four. Then they took a boy and girl and put them w/ the mom and dad they picked. Owen was the only boy (out of the four) under the age of 10, so the director said had they gone w/ an older girl and younger boy he would have been it. In the end they chose a 12 year old boy and 6 year old girl. Anyway, after they brought the boys out, she pulled us aside and told me he knocked her out w/ his audition. She took his picture and got his name and number for upcoming commericals. She wanted to know what agency he was with???? Ummm...the children's theatre. Does that count? Unfortunately, the parents had to wait in a hall so I don't know exactly what he did or said.....and he didn't give me a lot of detail. But, I asked him if they called if he would want to try it again. He said that while it's not better than soccer, he would like to do it again because he really wants to be on TV and sing w/ the Laurie Berkner Band. Next time, I'll leave Emmett at home. Poor thing. The audition was supposed to last 1.5 hours, but we were there (the final cut kids) for 2.5 hours. Sitting in a stuffy hallway....NOT FUN! Emmett did such a good job, though. And luckily, I had a Memory game in my car. Thank goodness for the many things that can be stuffed into a minivan.

Syracuse summer swimming

We are so lucky! One of our closest friends here, who happens to live two doors down, got a pool at the end of last summer. It was been such a blessing for us. She invites us over to swim almost every afternoon during the week that the weather is nice and sunny (which isn't always!) and weekends for family swim. Thanks, Sheila! And, if for some reason she isn't around, our neighbor across the street and next door on the other side also have inground pools. It's made a HUGE difference in the boy's swimming abilities. Owen plays almost completely in the deep end where he can dive, tread water endlessly, and loves to do the back stroke and front crawl. Em is finally moving away from the stairs to hang on the side of the pool AND he gets his chin wet! HURRAH! Sheila wouldn't let me take a pic of her, so I took one of her cutie pie 2 year old, Carson, instead.

Bye MOM

My mom left on Wednesday and it's taken us this long again to pull our act together. The boys were used to watch she calls a "proper" breakfast: bacon, eggs, french toast, biscuits every morn. And, they have had to get used to eating cereal again. They have also haven't been sleeping great, now that they are back in their own rooms. Sigh. And, I am feeling rather lonely. It's so nice to have someone run errands w/ me and hang out all day while Eddie is at work. And in her spare time, she got all my front landscaping down, cleaned out my car, replaced light bulbs that haven't been replaced in forever, and many other things! We had a great visit. She's coming back w/ my SIL and two nieces the first of October! YEAH!

I've scheduled my c/s

My c/s is scheduled for November 27!! Yipee! Make sure you vote for your fave name....we are still so undecided. Help us! Grandma is leaving Wednesday. We are so, so sad. The boys have asked her to stay with us. We have had a great week.

MVP.....again!

My little soccer player, Owen, had another great week at soccer camp! This was his second week of soccer camp this summer and his second MVP for the 10 and under crowd. You should see him! He plays like he doesn't quite know that he is only 6. He is fearless! After his last practice, he says, "mom, there's still another soccer camp in August, can I go? can I go? " He is soccer obsessed! I'd have a pic for this post if my camera batteries hadn't died.

It's a ..........

BOY! I'm joining the world of mom of three boys! I'm completely surrounded by cars, trucks, soccer balls, dirt, legos, helicopters, and penises! I'm so outnumbered (and I'm pretty sure I'll love every minute of it!). Owen got to go to the US w/ me today and while he was a little bummed it was a boy (he was so hoping for a little sister), he got to see the baby suck his thumb and move all around. He looked like he was punching. Owen thought maybe we should name him Boxer. The babe looked perfect in every way and weighed 13 ounces. YEAH!
This week has been crazy. My mom's here and spoiling the boys. They are sleeping all three together in the guest room. One giant slumber party. It's so nice having her here.
Plus, our baby birds hatched. Owen's been taking swim lessons and has turned into quite a little fish. He's learning to dive and can swim from one end of the pool to the next (not pretty, but effective).

One Beach, Two Beaches

It's been a busy last few days for us! On Sunday, our good friends the Taffners invited us up to their vacation spot in the Adirondacks. It was pretty. The weather was chilly and rainy. But we all still had a great time! On Thursday, we took a drive to FairHaven Beach w/ our good friends, The Youkers. That's mom, Heidi's, backside in the photo. The water was freezing! 68 degrees. But, we all still got in...briefly! This beach is on Lake Ontario. Tomorrow, my mom comes for a visit. We are all SO excited. The boys are counting down the hours.

Babies, boy or girl?

So, the boys have found these babies in the basement that have been there probably for years. But all of a suddent they have taken a huge interest in them! They carry them everywhere, change their diaper, sleep w/ them. We even had to take them in their strollers to the store, doctor's office, etc. Emmett's baby is Judy. She is 1 month old. Owen's baby is Emily. She is two months old.
A perinatologist scanned me at work again (twice on the same day), and the baby had his/her cord between her legs!!! But, he said he would say 90% chance that it's a girl. He said the cord moved a few times and he got a decent picture. We'll see.....this is a major exercise in patience! My 20 week ultrasound is in 10 days. Hopefully, the ultrasound tech will have a clear picture. Until then......I work again tonight! Stay tuned.......

Good news!

Got some good news today...the baby's quad screen came back negative. That, along w/ a negative nuchal translucency screen, rules out the great majority of chromosomal disorders..... so yeah! I can't completely rest easy until my 20 week ultrasound (in 2 weeks), but for now I feel better. The boys played outside BY THEMSELVES today for over 2 hours. I hate to admit it, but I was almost bored. I suppose if I didn't mind cleaning, doing laundry, etc. I could have found something to do. But, since I don't like that stuff, I was bored! My life is SO going to change after the baby is born! Owen had his first tap dancing lesson today, and really, really liked it. I'm glad he did, because his stinkin' tap shoes cost 60.00!!! Who knew they were so expensive? And, the studio where he is taking lessons is 30 minutes away. And, I locked my keys in the car there. So, Owen and I had to wait for Eddie to come rescue us. Thankfully, he did so (without!) complaining! My hero!

Syracuse Summer and Bauer #5

A bird chose our hanging begonias RIGHT next to the house to nest his eggs. Look how perfect they are! We planted a ladder right next to the flower, so we can peek in every day.

Last night at work, the residents scanned me again. 2 different ones and both thought they saw boy parts. I have to agree. I saw the parts, too. Looks like I'm going to be surrounded by male genitalia. I work again in 7 days, so stay tuned.......

Let's give it a go.....

OK....I'm trying this blogging thing! After seeing Ellen Bee's and Jessica's blog I SO want to do my own! Just got to figure out how to add pics, etc. Email me back when you get this so I'll know if it's working.
