One more picture from our trip. The boys LOVE watching my mom sew in her purse sewing room. They like to "help", too :) I really should learn how to sew....;.

Visiting Grandma and Grandpa
One day on our vacation we decided to go visit my grandparents in Kincaid, IL, a super small town. It's been a super long time since we've been there....well, I don't think Emmett's ever been there, so it's been at least 5 years. My grandparents always come to Edwardsville to visit us when we're home, but we're never there (in fact, they watched Henry on Saturday of our lake trip while my mom moved Brian in to an appt. at SIU). Both my parents were raised in Kincaid and this is the house my mom was raised in. My grandparents are super special people. They have so much energy and love. I enjoy every minute w/ them. And, I loved going to visit their home again. It has such memories for me. My grandma, I believe, is 79 and my grandpa is 84. My grandma is one of three girls (she's the youngest) and he's one of three boys (he's the oldest). Isn't that interesting? We had a really nice visit and the boys didn't want to leave. It'll be another year before we see them again, because they winter in Florida. But, my grandparents are taking all the kids and grandkids and great grandkids on a family reunion trip to Destin, Florida next year and she booked the rooms while we were there...August 8-15, 2009. Yeah!
The guest of honor
Owen studied war and the history of wars in school last year, and I told him that PaPa's brother (my great Uncle Joe) lost his leg in World War 2. He was completely fascinated and had LOADS of questions about war. So, when we decided to go to my grandparent's house, my grandma invited Uncle Joe to come to. Owen was thrilled to get to meet him (although, I think he forgot most of the questions he intended to ask him). And, both boys were super impressed w/ the electric scooter/wheelchair he rides AND MOST OF ALL....his tricked out Chrysler Town and Country mini van. It has a ramp so he can get in and out and a special seat, etc. Uncle Joe gave the boys a big demo on how it works.
And they're off
My grandpa has quite a garden in his backyard. He takes great pride in it, and always gets loads of wonderful veggies from it. When we arrived at their house, grandpa was ready to take the boys to go pick veggies from the garden.

St. Louis Zoo
One of our vacation days was spent at the St. Louis Zoo w/ Nicki and Eric (who took a HALF DAY off of work....I believe his first day off in a year??) and the girls. My mom kept Henry. We had a great time. Most of you know I LOVE the St. Louis Zoo. I have never taken the boys to the Syracuse Zoo ( I boycott it on principle). The St. Louis Zoo is FREE! FREE, I repeat! And, it is one of the best zoos I have been to. It has a train, insectarium, children's museum, carousel, Dinosaur exhibit, and many other fun things. These special items aren't free, but since you aren't paying to get in you can afford these things. It's absolutely wonderful. We had a great time.
Zoo mishaps
We had a heck of a time at the zoo. Both Emmett and Evelyn fell down at various times while running and poor Josie fell and (this is my guess anyway) busted her frenulum (the little connector from your top lip to your top gum). No big deal, but WOW! did it bleed. I grabbed her and got blood all over my shirt and arm (which you can't see). And Josie was covered in blood, too. We looked like quite a sight walking through the zoo. But the best part was that Amy picked me up from the zoo and we went to the Galleria for dinner and shopping. I walked around the mall w/ blood all over my shirt! And, holy smokes......my breastfeeding boobies are still enormous aren't they?
So Big and Sick!

We're home!
Henry stats
My baby was nine months old on Tuesday, August 19. I missed an official post and picture. He goes to the doctor this week (I think), so I'll give you his weight and height then. He's still not crawling, but he's getting much closer! He can go from sitting to hands and knees, rock briefly, and then falls. But, he can still get pretty much wherever he wants by rolling and scooting on his bottom. He's also, quite possibly, the sweetest little baby around. He rarely cries and is just generally content no matter what. He has two bottom teeth and the top teeth look to be pretty close to coming in. He eats pretty much about anything, but he's not a huge eater. And, he still likes to nurse....a whole lot! He was sleeping 9-12 hours at night, but the past few weeks he's been getting up at least once, sometimes twice. I don't know if it's the teeth or because we were out of town but it'll hopefully stop soon. I think he's on the verge of getting his 10th ear infection (runny nose just started today), and we're waiting for the ENT to call us back w/ his surgery date for his tubes. His fave things: his big brothers, dogs and cats, and water. All in all, I think I'll keep him :)

Emmett's Birthday
Yesterday we got together to celebrate Emmett's birthday (two weeks early). I'm always sad that the boys never get to have a "family" birthday party, so it's fun to do it together when we can. The only person missing was my brother, Brian. :(. Otherwise, the whole family was there (and Amy and Jeff, who count as family!). Emmett got lots of fun things and we had cake and ice cream. Good times.
Emmett and Evelyn
Emmett and Evelyn are becoming better buddies the older they get. They're only 19 months apart. This trip they took off w/ one another each time they were together. Adorable.

Lake Norfork
We returned yesterday from our long anticipated annual/ semi annual trip to Lake Norfork in Arkansas. We went w/ a group of our good friends and had a spectacular time. The weather was rainy and cool the first day, but we were still able to get on the boat by noon. The weather was gorgeous the second day. Lake Norfork is the best kept secret (shhh.....keep it a secret). There is NO crowd. The water is WARM (it had to be 86 degrees) and the staying is cheap. We rented a speed boat and pontoon boat and on of our friends brought a jet ski. We were the only ones to bring kiddos (Henry stayed w/ grandma) and they had a fantastic time! They got to tube, jet ski, and swim, swim, swim! We anchored the pontoon in the middle of the lake and swam around it. And, when we returned to our trailer for the night the boys went right to bed and the rest of us adults hung out til late in the evening. Super fun!
Living arrangements
Here's a photo of the trailer we stayed in. There was a total of 6 couples, one single, and my two boys on our trip. We had three trailers. They each had two bedrooms and a pull out coach. They also had running water/bath tub/ shower, full kitchen, and a TV. I told the boys to enjoy their time outdoors, because this was as close to "camping" as we are EVER going to get.
Eddie and I and the boys set off on the speed boat at one point, so I could use the breast pump. It worked out super well, thanks to the battery pack BB let me borrow (thanks!) and because the lake is so empty I think I was pretty discreet. Unlike the year (many years ago)we went skinny dipping.....right, guys?

Uncle Brian
Owen and Emmett have had a great time roughhousing w/ Uncle Brian. He leaves to go back to college today and we are heading to the lake. I think they are smothering him w/ love so he won't forget them :)

Slip n Slide
My mom's neighbor has a little boy who is two weeks younger then Emmett. He's been coming over to play and today he brought his slip n slide over. The kids had a great time, but it only took a few minutes before Eddie and my brother, Brian, decided they should give it a try. They ended up hooking two slip n slides together, so they could go farther and challenging each other to see who could get to the fence. They even took out a huge container of bubbles and poured in on themselves and the slip n slide, so they could slide farther. But the best part was when my mom decided to give it a try. Hysterical! Check out the videos.
The Superman
Eddie and my brother are on the far left free falling on the Superman. It's too bad I didn't videotape this....you could hear my brother screaming the whole way down.
Wave pool
At the water park in Six Flags: Owen, Emmett, my brother, Brian, and his girlfriend, Brianna. Emmett LOVED The wave pool!

We've arrived!
And, while Eddie was driving and I was trying to stay awake and keep him awake in the wee hours of the morn, I learned how to text. Wow! It's fun and potentially addicting. I also discovered that I can check my email and use the internet from my phone. Who knew?
We spent the day today swimming at Eric and Nicki's. Tomorrow is Six Flags. I'm going to see if I can download pics to the computer to share.

Happy Anniversary!
Today Eddie and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary!!! We even went out together ALONE! Our dear neighbors, The Hourihans, offered to keep the boys ALL NIGHT! So, we let them keep all of them while we went to dinner (and Target) and then we picked up Henry and Owen and Emmett are staying the night. They were so excited. And Mrs. Sue spoils them rotten :)! The only thing that might have made it a little better is if we weren't leaving for E'ville in the morning. We had to come home after dinner and get packed. Oh, and Eddie got me a love/anniversary charm for my charm bracelet. Here's to many more babe :)

Team work
The boys have been hard at work creating a "city" w/ their cars in our basement. They've spent hours down there at a time. It's been wonderful :). I worked last night and this morning I asked Owen and Emmett how they slept. Owen said, "well..fine. But I was really tired, and I couldn't fall asleep because Emmett wanted me to rub his back for him until he fell asleep." :)
Sick again!

I think it's because he hasn't been sick in 6 weeks, so he's been eating better. We're leaving in four days for E'ville. Hopefully, he's feeing better before then.

Soccer Camp
Owen went to a soccer camp this week run by the Baldwinsville Youth Soccer Association. He started out w/ his age group, but was moved up the first day to play w/ the 9,10, and 11 year olds. The coach of the camp called him Rooney the first time he met him. Owen thought it was great, because Wayne Rooney just happens to be one of his fave players. Friday, the last day, Owen was named Camper of the Week, the top prize. He was the only one who got the trophy, which he declared was the coolest trophy ever!
