Running the 50 yard dash...

Owen was invited to participate in the city wide 4th and 5th grade track meet. It was a big honor for him to be asked to participate, because each school could only take 2 kids per event. And, each school could take either 4th or 5th graders. Out of the 16 kids that went from Owen's school - only 3 of them were 4th graders (Owen being one of them!). Owen was asked to run the 50 yard dash, and he did a great job. The first run had two different heats with 14 kids total, and Owen finished in the top 7 and advanced to the next heat. It was really fun, because they called his name over the loud speaker, and everyone from his school cheered. Loudly. Then, in the final heat, he finished last of the 7. But - there were only 2 fourth graders participating in the 50 (out of the 14). So - all in all, a great showing!

Owen's soccer team has recently started training with a certified speed expert. He teachs them how to run, sprint, etc. Owen's pretty certain that next year at this time, he'll win the whole thing!
