Eating cereal....
Round one: Henry vs. the cereal
Good news: I gave Henry a bottle of formula last night. He acted like he was starving, but he refused to nurse and Eddie was at work so I tried again. He took 1.5 ounces no problem. This makes me happy for two reasons: 1. He took the formula. 2. He obviously wasn't starving (only took 1.5 ounces!)
We did it!
After a particularly rough patch yesterday when Henry was acting like he was starving, we decided to try rice cereal. And...he wasn't impressed. He did open his mouth for the spoon but then pushed it back out w/ his tongue. I know that usually takes a while for them to like it, but the pushing it out w/ his tongue makes me wonder if he's not quite ready. So, we are going to wait a while longer....
Spring has sprung...
Well, it sprung yesterday. Today it's cold again w/ a freezing rain/drizzly mix. And, yesterday was NY's version of spring. It was still only 45 degrees. UGH!

My favorite hat
My mom got this hat for Henry when he was first born and I kept meaning to get a picture of him in it. It was absolutely adorable. Time passed quickly (as it seems to do these days) and I never got my photo. It doesn't really fit anymore, but I still wanted a picutre with it.
Thanks for the suggestions and uh-oh!
What I did try last night what a bottle of formula. I'm down to one bottle of stored breastmilk in the fridge and I have to work Tuesday. I thought we better give formula a try, since he's going to have to take it Tuesday. He hated it! GAGGED! UH-OH!!! Now I could mix half of breastmilk and half formula, like Amy suggested, and try that but I have no extra breastmilk. And, he's nursing every 3 hours...so not much chance to get more. What am I going to do????
OH....and holding him on my lap today while eating breakfast, he kept trying to pull the spoon into his mouth.

One more thing....
Suggestions???
Henry had his four month check up yesterday, and he didn't get any vaccines as he is still wheezing. Although, she said we can go down to nebulizer treatments twice a day. He was 15 pounds 4 ounces (60th %) and 25 1/2 inches (70%th). He's still the littlest Bauer boy at 4 months, but considering he got down to 6 pounds 8 ounces and spent a week in the hospital eating nothing, he's gained the most weight.
His pediatrician recommended starting him on cereal (1 tbsp a day) and working our way up to 4 tbsp before starting veggies. I was kind of hoping to hold out a little longer...but she thought he was ready. So, all you mom's out there tell me how old your babies were when you started food. I need to weigh my options. Owen was 5.5 months old and Emmett was just shy of 4 months.

Talking to Emmett
Seriously...the only thing Henry was happy about today was talking to Emmett. Emmett spent about an hour on the ground "playing" and "talking" to him, and Henry "talked" right back. I think they're going to be best buddies. What you can't see from this video is when I walked out of the room to download this video and came back in and Emmett was carrying Henry, trying to put him on the couch. He said Henry was tired of being on the floor and wanted to see something new. Oh, dear!
I need.....

Our Easter
Uneventful isn't always so bad. Emmett got up at 6 AM and played in Owen's room until 7 AM (remember they sleep together in Emmett's room, so he could play in Owen's without waking O up). Our rule is we can't go downstairs to see what the Easter bunny brought until 7 AM (hmm....where'd I get that from, mom and dad?). Owen was really hoping that the Easter Bunny would hide the eggs outside this Easter. But, since it was 25 degrees this AM, I think the Easter Bunny must have decided that inside was better. Owen and Emmett then spent the next few hours before we went to church, making themselves sick eating Easter candy. BTW...is there anyone in the world who actually likes Peeps (you know that sugar/marshmallow bunny)? At church, Henry smiled at everyone. The rest of the day, Eddie spent playing soccer outside w/ the boys and the Wii while I cooked Easter dinner. I think it might be time for Eddie to give up playing soccer w/ Owen and Emmett...he's now limping!
Smart Easter Bunny
The Easter Bunny did a great job this year. He/she must have known that if one more toy was added to our home on Pico Lane the mom and dad would have lost their minds! So..the Easter Bunny went w/ a book/workbook theme this year. Oh yeah, and Henry got baby food and rice cereal (yum!) instead of candy.. Thank you Easter Bunny!

Buddha baby
Why is it that fat rolls are only cute on babies. Not fair! Henry was 14 pounds 8 ounces at the doctor on Monday.
Don't let this face fool you....
We have NOT had a good day. Henry is sick again (as are Owen, Emmett and I). I took him to the doctor Monday, and she said he was wheezing yet again. Today, he won't let me put him down. His pediatrician wants to see him back on Friday, but I may have to call tomorrow. Maybe he has his third ear infection?

Grandma Bear Hug
Grandma left today and we are, once again, in mourning. We won't see her again until Henry is 7 months old. So, so sad. There's a lot of changing going on between a 3 1/2 month old and a 7 month old. Those of you living close to family.... be extra thankful. It's such a blessing!
Big Boy!
Here's Henry in my favorite big boy outfit (from Amy and Jeff). I LOVE it! The dark green in the sweater makes his eyes look hazel.. Check out the pediped shoes from my sister in law's boutique!

Toothless grin
Henry has changed so much over this last week. He giggled at Owen a handful of times yesterday and he's grabbing at everything! It's so amazing how much they change in a short time.

Sleepy Time
My mom and I took Em and Henry shopping a good portion of the day on Friday (I bought a video camera!), and we obviously completely wore Emmett out. Love the way he fell asleep holding the remote.

The Life of a Mom!
After trying (unsuccessfully, I might add) to get the kids to sleep for the past 1.5 hours, I came to my computer and watched this video a friend sent me. Tell me mommies.....is this what our life is about or what?

Game Night!
If you haven't yet played Apples to Apples, you should give it a try. It comes in an adult and kid version. It's super, super fun (see: we even got my dad to play). The people you may not recognize in the photo are our dear friends (friends from high school and Owen's God parents), Amy and Jeff. We got to hang out w/ them and we celebrated Christmas w/ them.....two months later :).

Josie's Baptism
Eddie and I are honored to be Josie's God parents. Here are some photos from her baptism.
PS Everyone seems to think that we look a lot alike. What do you think?

Visiting w/ friends
One of the days we were home we got to visit w/ my mom's oldest and dearest friend, Paula Borah (from Springfield, Illinois). I grew up w/ Paula's daughter, Ashley, who has since moved to Peoria, Illinois. So, Paula, Ashley, and Ashley's two little ones, Ellie and Abbie all came to visit. It was mass chaos, but so much fun! It was great seeing them all again. Ashley's daughter, Ellie (4 years old), is sitting next to Emmet in this photo. Evelyn and Josephine (my nieces) are on the end. Ashley's daughter, Abbie (2 years), bolted from the picture! (Smart girl!!!)
We're back!!!
Sorry for the delay...we're back, safe and sound. (although, not all together happy about it! There's TONS of snow on the ground and two little birdies have already informed me that it was 72 degrees today in Fort Collins and 60 in St. Louis! UGH!). I'm in the process of uploading photos from our trip and I'll post them soon. Happy Saturday everyone.
