Henry's sick and Eddie lost his job (his dad job)

Henry has ear infection #3 in his short 5.5 months. Poor kiddo. And while I was at work tonight I called home to check on Eddie and the kiddos. He informed me that he let Owen and Emmett (who's 4.5, remember?) ride their scooters down the road to a friend's house. This doesn't sound horrible until I tell you that the house they went to was appx. 6 blocks down the road on the busiest street in our neighborhood. HELLO??? And, my boys had never been to this friends house before. For all we know they could have had a huge gun rack in their entry way. I don't think they do..but still! Can you believe it???? He's fired!

This DOES NOT sound like a Bauer family decision at ALL! Were they riding those motorized scooters too? Yikes!
Eddie knows his job is safe... he works for FREE! If this is the first time he's done something nutty like this, that's impressive. Dads are crazy!
Poor, poor Henry! XO his way!!!

((((HUGS))) to Henry! And, regarding Eddie's "dad" job, I'm actually impressed it's lasted as long as it has! :)

owen seems mature enough to get them there safely. did they leave clinton heights? don't fire him just yet, you'll regret it. its just a shame you have to worry so much nowadays about your kids safety.

There are a few things wrong with your argument, here.
Did Eddie force the kids to go? If he wasn't comfortable with allowing the kids to walk six blocks, I'm sure he would have insisted that they hitch hike.
Guns by the front door? That is where guns should be. Guns that are stored unloaded, cased, and in a secure location... well, let's just say what could have been a good shot now becomes a missed opportunity.
As for the parents, I'm sure they are fine. At WORST there is only 6% of the population that will seriously hurt children. So the odds were overwhelmingly in Eddie's favor.
I'm sure that Eddie thought this out rationally, made a sound judgment and now you want to throw him under the bus.
As a dad I was once fired and unnecessarily scolded for an incident involving a potato launcher and kitten. Hang in there Eddie. HUSBANDS UNITE!!!
