Owen's audition

Owen went on his first audition today. It was spur of the moment. We got a phone call from the director of the Syracuse Children's Theatre where he does his musicals and she said that they were looking for 6-12 year old kids for a commerical for a local water park. So, we went! Turns out they were looking for a "family". So they were choosing one boy, one girl, one mom, and one dad (needless to say, I didn't audition!). And while Owen didn't get the part, he did make it down to the last four boys!! They started out w/ about 25ish boys and weeded them down to four. Then they took a boy and girl and put them w/ the mom and dad they picked. Owen was the only boy (out of the four) under the age of 10, so the director said had they gone w/ an older girl and younger boy he would have been it. In the end they chose a 12 year old boy and 6 year old girl. Anyway, after they brought the boys out, she pulled us aside and told me he knocked her out w/ his audition. She took his picture and got his name and number for upcoming commericals. She wanted to know what agency he was with???? Ummm...the children's theatre. Does that count? Unfortunately, the parents had to wait in a hall so I don't know exactly what he did or said.....and he didn't give me a lot of detail. But, I asked him if they called if he would want to try it again. He said that while it's not better than soccer, he would like to do it again because he really wants to be on TV and sing w/ the Laurie Berkner Band. Next time, I'll leave Emmett at home. Poor thing. The audition was supposed to last 1.5 hours, but we were there (the final cut kids) for 2.5 hours. Sitting in a stuffy hallway....NOT FUN! Emmett did such a good job, though. And luckily, I had a Memory game in my car. Thank goodness for the many things that can be stuffed into a minivan.

That's so unreal! I watched this Dr. Phil one time where they worked with about 5 crazy moms and their kiddos who were auditioning and such trying to make it happen for their kids. It was nuts! And then there are the Bauers....I guess you just need to be cute and clueless! HA!
