Kaput!

Eddie's car overheated on the highway today. After making it to the nearest service station, the technicians there think it's something to do w/ the engine (ka-ching!). We were planning on getting a new car soon anyway, because Eddie's car can't handle three car seats so on the days I have to work we have to switch cars. But, it looks like we are going to have to move a little quicker. Eddie's car is currently undriveable, so we are going to try to make it on one car for a while. We are debating the merits on buying vs. leasing for Eddie's car. Suggestions? Eddie's car, while 10 years old, only had 60, 000 miles on it. It will be a low mileage car. Buying a new car is like having my teeth pulled out slowly one by one by a very mean dentist who doesn't believe in anesthetics....

Playlist?

Playlist yeah or playlist no? Does listening to music while reading my blog irritate you or make you happy :). Thought I would add one since Jessica, Letters from the Homefront (her blog on the left) has one. And, I love listening to it.

MESS!

I've forgotten what a mess babies can make while they are eating! Henry is still getting only cereal (but he's had both rice and oatmeal now) once a day. But it sure makes a mess! He likes to feed himself, too. That certainly doesn't help the mess factor.
BTW, thanks Amy Coff and Ellen Bee for the GREAT bibs. They're wonderful.

Dropping game has begun

Big goals today: getting ready for our neighborhood garage sale (everything must go!) next weekend and raking leaves (still!).

Swinging

IMG_3813, originally uploaded by megan bauer.

Our neighbor, Sheila, had a play date this afternoon and Henry got a chance to ride in her swing. I'd say he liked it. But then again...he's pretty mellow. There's very little he doesn't like.

Hey mom,
You asked for a photo of Henry's thighs. Here you go!

Special Day

I don't mean to be sentimental, but today is a hard day for me. It is Owen's half birthday....7 1/2. My first baby is half way to eight. What makes this harder for me is how very little I remember. I don't know if Henry is our last baby or not, but I'm trying so very hard to memorize him...piece by piece. I stare at him constantly. I want to remember his cheeks, lips, eyes, tongue. I want to always be able to remember his scent, his sounds, his smile. But, I know I won't. I'm sure I did the same w/ Owen. I am positive that while I nursed him...I stared. But, I don't remember. It went so fast. And if I really dwell on it, it makes me overwhelmingly sad. I don't remember.

Making Henry laugh

Henry smiles all the time, but doesn't laugh a whole lot. When he does, it's a really small giggle. See if you can catch it in this video. It's interesting. I remember Emmett rarely smiled, but had the best laugh.

Groceries

I shop for groceries week to week. I make a schedule of what we're having for dinner for the week and I buy those specific ingredients. I rarely have extra ingredients in the pantry. Went to the grocery store today and come out w/ a 300.00 grocery bill!!! Unbelievable! And Henry is not even eating yet......I can't imagine what it's going to cost us when the boys are teenagers. As it is now, they both usually have 3-4 waffles and 2 bowls of cereal every morning for breakfast. And they are so skinny. It must be the nonstop running around. ENERGY!

I just came across this photo of Emmett at 5 month. He has so little hair compared to Henry! Not so sure they look alike much anymore....

Eddie's soccer team

Eddie and a friend who he works w/ have put together a men's (and one girl) soccer team. Tonight was their first practice. Eddie is SO EXCITED! He has lists going of the people who are playing, the positions they are playing, and he has been running every night....getting in shape. He seems to think they are going to be GOOD! I can't wait until their first game starts to really see. AB is sponsoring them and providing shirts, socks, shorts. A lot of my friends hubbies are on the team along w/ some dads from Owen's soccer team, so their games should be a good time. Although, after watching practice last night....I think we better hope for a .500 season. You may notice the cooler in the video. AB provided after practice beverages for all. Oh, and Eddie is in the green shirt.

It was a family affair. The kids played soccer on a field next to where the dads were practicing. For the next 6 weeks or so, 5/7 days of the week involve evening soccer (CRAZY, eh?). Tuesday, Owen has practice. Wednesday, Owen has practice. Thursday, Eddie has practice. Friday, Owen has games. Saturday, Owen has games. And, before long Eddie will have Wednesday night games, too. Emmett starts in the fall, then I'm really in trouble.

Chunky Monkey

IMG_3781, originally uploaded by megan bauer.

So, I stood on the scale w/ Henry today and I know it's not completely accurate but it said he was 18 pounds. Can his cheeks get any chunkier and his face any rounder?

Weight loss update (for you Toni and Amy Coff)

Down 35 pounds.....15 more to go. Yeah! Once again, kicking myself. Why did I gain 50 pounds? Now I remember, it was worth every bite :)

Just in case you wondered....

My patient last night had a previous gun shot wound that took one kidney and some intestine. After she pushed for three hours last night and had a beautiful baby girl, she said to me, "just in case anyone ever asks....labor hurts WAY WORSE then a gun shot wound!" As if I didn't know THAT!
