Kaput!

Eddie's car overheated on the highway today. After making it to the nearest service station, the technicians there think it's something to do w/ the engine (ka-ching!). We were planning on getting a new car soon anyway, because Eddie's car can't handle three car seats so on the days I have to work we have to switch cars. But, it looks like we are going to have to move a little quicker. Eddie's car is currently undriveable, so we are going to try to make it on one car for a while. We are debating the merits on buying vs. leasing for Eddie's car. Suggestions? Eddie's car, while 10 years old, only had 60, 000 miles on it. It will be a low mileage car. Buying a new car is like having my teeth pulled out slowly one by one by a very mean dentist who doesn't believe in anesthetics....

Sorry to hear the car died. I will definitely miss the stories that go along with that car (windows going down spontaneously, having to open the driver's side door only from the outside, etc).

Have a great Mother's Day!

I had a flat tire this morning on the highway in the pouring rain. What does it say when you still call your dad to help change the tire??!! I'd say buy new and you'll never be disappointed. Maybe you can go another 10 years. Plus, you have to be more careful with a lease and with 3 little boys that could be very hard : )

You know my take on it all- new isn't necessary!

It is such a hard thing to find a good car that fits 3 car seats in a row that isn't a mini van or a large suv. Good luck on the car hunt.

depends on the mileage limit if you plan on leasing. rarely is a lease a good plan, best if you buy a used car with 10k miles or less on it.

Used, but less than 2 years. You can swing a great deal and the car is usually in great condition and still has few miles.

We are leasing one of our cars right now and i'm not sure i would do it again. Our lease is for 4 years at the end of which we will have paid so much money and have to turn the car back in. So, i think it really a waste of money. We should have bought something so at the end of the 4 years we would be done making payments and we would own our car. Just my thoughts!! Love, Cousin Kate!!!
